Tomorrow, June 28, is Constitution Day of Ukraine, marking the adoption of the country’s Constitution in 1996.

This week, we were incredibly proud and honoured to receive a Certificate of Appreciation from the Embassy of Ukraine to the Swiss Confederation. It means a lot to us to be recognised among other organisations and individuals supporting Ukraine, standing in solidarity with its people, and upholding the values of freedom, democracy, and international law.

But this recognition belongs to all of you. Your trust, encouragement, and support make our work possible, and we want to share this appreciation with everyone who has been part of this journey.

A few months ago, we visited the team at The Centre for Paediatric Medicine in Lviv @zusdmc_lviv The neurosurgical microscope we helped deliver is transforming patient care, and we witnessed it in use. It's remarkable to see how one piece of equipment changes the reality of everyday work in this hospital. Although it is a single device, every surgical department and its patients benefit from it.

This is what we meant by 'second, meaningful life' for equipment.

Two trucks left Geneva in mid-April and just a few days later, the beds arrived in Lviv and were distributed to:

It’s natural to upgrade, update and develop infrastructure. It helps companies become more efficient and makes everyday work smoother and faster. More and more companies are moving toward sustainability, choosing solutions that support that mission. But sustainability is also about what happens next and what we do with equipment that’s no longer needed.

For WZR Weiterbildungszentrum Rorschach-Rheintal @wzr_rorschach_rheintal the next natural step was to give a second life to 95 computers and 30 monitors that no longer met internal requirements but were fully functional.

Instead of disposal, WZR redirected these devices to create real impact and support Ukrainian institutions.

This is not only a textbook example of corporate responsibility toward the environment, but also of support for communities in need. Thanks to WZR, these devices are now supporting daily work and patient care in hospitals in Barvinkove, Bohodukhiv (Kharkiv region), as well as everyday learning in educational institutions in Chernihiv and Lviv:

A few weeks ago, we introduced Oksana Baran @oksn_baran, a Ukrainian paediatric rehabilitation specialist and the second participant in our Rehab Bridge project, which connects Ukrainian rehabilitation experts with leading Swiss clinics to help close the widening gap in specialised care caused by the war. In September 2026, she will participate in a week-long study visit at the University Children's Hospital Basel @ukbbkinderspital - the host institution for the second edition of Rehab Bridge.

During our conversation, Oksana shared what led her to work with children, the realities of providing care in today’s Ukraine, and what a Rehab Bridge study visit at UKBB means for her, her patients, and the colleagues she will mentor and teach using the knowledge she gains in Switzerland this summer.

Oops, we did it again! 🤭

Another ambulance delivered to Ukraine. 🚑

After a few days on the road from Switzerland, we reached our destination and handed it over to @samooborona.lviv.

It wouldn’t have come together without the support of Vindobona Foundation, who financed the ambulance, and Hilfe für die Ukraine 8484 - an incredible logistics partner who kept the convoy moving all the way to Ukraine.

This one had a lot of moving pieces, quite literally. Thanks to a real team effort and everyone involved, we can proudly say: Mission accomplished ✅

Zürich hilft der Ukraine (ZhdU) was born in the first days of the full-scale invasion as a spontaneous grassroots effort. A few strangers met online and, from a place of urgency and heart, decided to act for Ukraine.

Four years later, we’re proud of what this community has built: a growing network of targeted support connecting Switzerland and Ukraine. A bridge built on trust and collaboration.

At the end of December, we sent our ninth and final truck of 2025 with humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

Thanks to the generosity of @psychiatrische_dienste_aargau, the truck carried 25 medical beds, which we delivered to three hospitals in Odesa, Sumy, and Poltava. These beds will give patients greater comfort and support medical staff in their daily work.

Thanks to the generosity of @psychiatrische_dienste_aargau, the truck carried 25 medical beds, which we delivered to three hospitals in Odesa, Sumy, and Poltava. These beds will give patients greater comfort and support medical staff in their daily work.

Spital Zollikerberg @spitalzollikerberg was one of our first partner hospitals and since 2022 it has donated tonnes of medical supplies for which we provided transportation to Ukraine.

Yesterday, Zurich hilft der Ukraine and Zollikerberg team worked on loading another 3-tonne truck with medical mattresses, beds, trolleys, wheelchairs, etc.

In times of uncertainties, we believe that it's crucial to maintain reliable partnership and continue to support the healthcare 💙💛

We are incredibly grateful for the strong support shown by the people of Switzerland. However, both the Ukrainian Association in Switzerland and Helvetia for Ukraine called for an even greater and more lasting commitment to Ukraine.

The speeches from @luziatschirky, @widmerceline (National Councillor, SP), @perparim.avdili (Municipal Councillor & President of FDP Zurich), and Halyna Petrosaniak (Ukrainian poet, translator, and literary critic) inspired us all to continue the fight for Ukraine.

For the third year in row, we are running the project "Fit for Winter" with @ranni_ptashky to provide the winter support packages for prematurely born babies in Ukraine.

The life continues in 🇺🇦 and in the first 9 months of this year over 134,000 babies were born in Ukraine. Among them are nearly 8,500 “early birds”. This winter, they face additional hardship as Russia keeps destroying Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, leaving homes in the dark and cold.

🎁 During last 2 years we supported nearly 500 newborns with essentials for the cold times – blankets, sleeping bags, heaters, clothes, and basic hygiene products. Please help us in supporting even more newborns and their families this year with the donation of 50 CHF:

Alongside fellow speaker Tobias Privitelli, who discussed GICHD’ critical work of demining in Ukraine, @matteib shared insights on @zuerich_hilft_der_ukraine ongoing humanitarian projects and mission.

The discussion was moderated by the esteemed war correspondent @luziatschirky, who guided the conversation with engaging and thought-provoking questions. The event closed with uplifting music by the ‚Ukulele Orchestra,‘ adding a hopeful tone to the evening.

We are happy to share that the transport safely arrived to the destination yesterday with nearly 4 tons of medical materials and generators. Within the next few weeks, these will be distributed to the recipients all over Ukraine 🫶

ZhdU continues to source materials from Swiss hospitals and donors to support healthcare in Ukraine. More transport is planned till the end of this year 🚚

There @matteib gave a powerful speech as a doctor, a colleague and friend of those brave people who faced an unimaginable horror.

Last Monday, the walls of @ohmatdyt, which had witnessed countless renovations since its founding 130 years ago, were stained with the blood of innocents.

That attack was not just an assault on a building; it was an attack on humanity itself.

It was an attempt to break the spirit of Ukrainians and their supporters.

Yet, on that rainy Friday, demonstrators stood united, upholding the principles that bind us as human beings—compassion, dignity, and the inviolable right to life.

On the 8th of July, Russia launched a devastating attack on several major cities in Ukraine.

One of the direct targets was the @ohmatdyt children’s hospital in the centre of Kyiv. At the moment of the attack, there were over 600 people in the hospital.

ZhdU Team member @itsyaezmin, who has been in Ukraine at time of the attacks, promptly made her way to the site to extend the entire ZhdU team’s support.

„The extent of the destruction is beyond our ability to describe in words. It is deeply distressing to learn that a place that primarily cares for children has been the target of such an attack. I am still struggling to comprehend what has occurred in the wake of this tragedy.
I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved and our partners at Ohmatdyt, and on behalf of the entire ZhdU team, I reiterate our commitment to providing comprehensive assistance during this challenging period.“ - @itsyaezmin

In total 24 departments are damaged: including 10 surgical departments, 5 oncology departments, 3 intensive care units, 2 operating blocks, 2 somatic departments, the radiology department, prenatal care department and the radiation therapy department.

Thanks to Luca and his godmother, this innovative device reached the largest rehabilitation center in Ukraine. ZhdU Co-President @matteib visited the center where he was given a full tour and was free to test the equipment extensively.

@unbroken.ukraine provides a variety of services including treatment, prosthetics, physical and psychological rehabilitation, housing and reintegration.

The centre provides care not only for serving Ukrainians, but also for all civilians 💙💛

Meanwhile, ZhdU is keeping track of the @on shoes delivered by us to @superhumans.center in April 🏃‍♂

We are happy to see that the shoes are already being used extensively for the therapy and rehabilitation of patients.

We were also able to gain an insight into a variety of new technologies such as their in-house 3D prosthetic printing. Manufacturing locally in the prosthetic laboratory enables quick usage and provides children and adults a chance for living a decent life.
